ROBERTI Raimondo

Raimondo Roberti was born on May 31, 1947 in Italy. As the son of an accomplished artist, Roberti grew up surrounded by paintings. His father began teaching him to paint with oils at the age of seven. By the time Roberti finished high school, he had exhibited his paintings in many local galleries. Roberti attended an art academy just after finishing high school to refine his self-taught style. As soon as he achieved the academic credentials and the skills necessary to insure artistic success, he moved to the United States to pursue his career as an artist.

While in the United States, he was invited to exhibit in many prestigious galleries and had many successful shows. However, his stay in the United States was short-lived because of his love for his homeland, Italy. Upon his return to Italy, he carried out the serious study of building structures and architecture. The results of this research would later have a dramatic effect on the subject matter of his paintings.

Roberti is an artist who, in his paintings, combines both tradition and renewal. He is an evident example of the style that demonstrates to the world, painting as it was, is, and will always be. He reflects the traditions and the evolutions of this art form. In accomplishing this, Roberti reveals the nuances of history through his works. He possesses the unique ability to maintain a proper self identity and perspective without the burden of explaining the myriad of reasons for the evolution of Italian art.

In his works, Roberti has emphasized the magic and special qualities of his subjects. His famous port scenes are an excellent example of how he captures these characteristics. He has given to the world an exacting and impressive record of the life of a port city, reflecting the labors of the town, the work of the fishermen and the life of the common people. His port scenes beckon to the viewer. They can be heard and felt with a mixture of voices and noises inherent to a port town. The fragrance of the ocean and the taste of seasalt can be enjoyed by the casual viewer of Roberti’s paintings.

Roberti’s paintings are sought after by astute collectors throughout the world who value his unmatched portrayal of life as he sees and experiences it. ...
